This is an entry for *ElisyanSkyes fashion contest.
I'm sure you all remember Leeloo from the Fifth element and her futuristic outfits. You can find the info an the movie here: [link] So, I used her juicy orange rubber-like suspendors as an inspiration for this somewhat strange but cute little outfit. The upper part is made from this orange rubbery material with the similar holes in it as in the movie. It would probably stick to the skin, and I don't know how comfy it that, really. It's just a concept The top has mini short sleeves and an turtleneck, and the holes in it are connected with a white thin thread to give it a bit of detail. The lower part is white satin. I don't know how to describe it in english, so just look at the picture The hem is then accented with a line of orange decorative lace. And the look is completed with white classic stilletos. |

Life's Unfair....get used to it!
What kind od fabric would you suggest? It might be a better choice.

The movie choice is very interesting and you translated the inspiration really well!
As for the skirt fabric.. I think satin would work well but for some reason I had something like dupion silk or taffeta in my mind because they'd have more texture and structure for this kind of skirt.
(I wanted to go into more detail but I have to keep something to say for the critiquing
I love the constructive critisism as I'm more of a newbie when it comes to fabric, so I'm glad when people make other suggestions and opinions. I learn a lot this way.
Can't wait for the critiques!

I'm glad you do! My main intention with this contest really was to help each other out, give good critiques and inspire.
I also have a team of 3 judges who know a lot about fashion (they either work in the field or have had experience in sewing and designing)
Fabric choices are often a lot harder than one might think. I know that feeling very well myself, because in your head it seems like a good idea but when someone else offers you another choice it gives you a new perspective.
And there are so many wonderful fabrics out there to choose from!
here's a link to my latest >[link]
