Description

Challenge Number Three:
Your next challenge is to design a party outfit for your model for P.Diddy's White Party in the Hamptons! (everything your model wears must be white from head to toe! Including the accessories!) The outfit you design must be inspired by your model's nationality. This is to test your styling and innovation...you're all using one color, so make sure to stand out! (And don't look slutty!)

Alania- long blonde, Caucasian(Dutch-American), blue 16
Agency - Reality Models

Hmm...so..Since I picked Alania I had to mix dutch and american wear.

The top is very much inspired by dutch dresses. It's made out of two layers, one is white satin and the other one is made out of lace that kinda substitutes the laced blouse in the original dutch ethnic wear. I made some sort of a V cut in the decoultage to make it a little bit more sexy (as this is P.Diddy's party :) ) There are six pearl buttons and white strings to hold it together. Dutch dresses have aprons that are tied up with a bow around the waist. I used a silk satin ribbon to create a similar effect, just without the apron ;P Lower part of the top is made out of four layers ofgauze, which has non-transparent white lines. In the back the lower two layers have similar form as a tail-coat, which is a part of dutch mens wear. There's also a string with pearls that goes from the bow to the back.

The pants are simple white denim jeans, representing american pop culture with it's low cut waist and straight cut. I added pearl belly ring, (I hope that's not a problem :) ) just to make it a little more pop hehe...

I kept the satin bag simple, tough it has an elegant shape. Where the string (which is the same as on the top) "meets" the bag there's a pearl.

Shoes are white stilletos, again very simple with satin ribbons.

She also has pearl accents in her hair.

That's about it. ;P I hope there wasn't some sort of a rule to do a dress since everybody's doing dresses. I just wanted to do something different.

Judges' commentary:
"We liked the combination of the frilly, girly top with the tough, rather masculine jeans, it's a nice contradiction. Also a great combination of materials with the delicate lace, gauze and pearls and then the tough, durable denim. While the inspiration wasn't evident from the design sketch, We do like how Red-Spot combined Dutch and American influences. We LOVE the way red-spot combines different fabrics in interesting ways! we also think its great that she went with pants instead of the more common dresses and skirts. The bodice (and hairstyle) speak dutch to us and the layered draping at the bottom of the top is divine, but might add weight to the derriere."

Fantastic outfit and rendering.

...only comment, is you did it with the pearls, where the front and back have them on opposite sides for continuity, but the purse should be switched to the other arm if you want it to be the same image...if that makes sense.

Honestly, though, that's totally not important.
